Position: International Exchange Programs (IEP) Assistant
Location: New York, NY

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development is seeking a part-time intern (minimum of 15 hours per week) to fill the post of International Exchange Programs (IEP) Assistant. The qualified intern must be bilingual in Spanish and English, with the target language being English and the ability to translate from Spanish to English. The intern will assist in all tasks and initiatives undertaken by the IEP Department of the GFDD in the New York office. Excellent writing and communications skills are a must. The candidate must also possess outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. The internship is unpaid, but GFDD will provide the intern with monthly transportation and meal allowance.
Starting date for the position is May 15th, 2017 until August 15th, 2017.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate/graduate students or work experience in Marketing/Business Administration/Management/Communications/International Relations/Education
  • U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Proficient in Spanish and English
  • Experience working with MAC and Windows platforms, and Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in managing social media platforms

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide support to the IEP Manager in all aspects of the programs
  • Conduct admissions process with students for Fall 2017 programs from registration, through preliminary interviews to receiving and digitalizing documentation, and program placement
  • Supervise and conduct progress evaluation of students enrolled in the program (follow-up and other logistical procedures)
  • Monitor and maintain existing internship contacts; develop additional business opportunities; build relationships with Dominican student groups and faculty at universities
  • Answer general inquiries about all programs and maintain updated the databases
  • Generate articles and press releases in English and Spanish about the program activities and events
  • Create Spanish and English writing material for the program websites
  • Help develop, execute and evaluate a social media strategy that directly correlates with core development outcomes
  • Assist in other tasks related to the program’s parent institution, GFDD
